SMS Terms & Conditions

SMS opt-in is separate from these terms

You consent to SMS communications by enabling SMS notifications in your account settings, not by accepting these terms or our Privacy Policy. SMS opt-in is a discrete action that requires you to explicitly toggle SMS on per notification category. See our SMS opt-in flow for the complete walkthrough.

1. SMS Messaging Program

PaxRent provides an SMS messaging service to property management companies and their tenants, property owners, and vendors. When you use the PaxRent platform, you may receive text messages related to your property management account. These messages are sent on behalf of property management companies that use PaxRent as their software platform.

2. Types of Messages

You may receive SMS messages related to:

  • Maintenance updates: New requests, status changes, technician assignments, and completion notifications
  • Payment notifications: Rent payment confirmations, upcoming due date reminders, and late payment notices
  • Lease notifications: Lease expiration reminders and renewal notices
  • Move-in / Move-out updates: Task reminders, inspection scheduling, and due date alerts
  • General announcements: Important property or community announcements from your property manager

3. How You Opt In (Consent)

SMS messaging is opt-in only and disabled by default. You will only receive SMS messages after you or your property manager explicitly enables SMS notifications in your PaxRent account settings.

SMS opt-in is a separate, discrete action that is not bundled with accepting our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. You must take the additional step of enabling SMS notifications per category before any SMS will be sent. Consent is collected through:

  • In-app notification preferences: After signing in to PaxRent, navigate to Settings → Notification Preferences. Each notification type (maintenance, payments, leases, etc.) has a separate SMS toggle that defaults to OFF. Enabling the toggle constitutes your explicit consent to receive SMS messages for that specific notification type.
  • Account setup: During tenant or owner onboarding, your property manager may enable SMS notifications on your behalf with your verbal or written consent.

By enabling SMS notifications, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages at the mobile number associated with your account. 4. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your notification preferences and property management activity. You may receive multiple messages per week depending on maintenance requests, payment activity, and announcements. You control which categories of messages you receive through your notification preferences.

5. How to Opt Out

You can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP: Text STOP to any message you receive from PaxRent. You will receive a one-time confirmation message and no further SMS messages will be sent.
  • In-app settings: Sign in to PaxRent, go to Settings → Notification Preferences, and disable the SMS toggle for any or all notification types.
  • Contacting support: Email support@paxrent.com to request removal from SMS messaging.

7. Message & Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. PaxRent does not charge for SMS messages, but your mobile carrier's standard messaging rates will apply. Check with your carrier for details about your text messaging plan.

8. Supported Carriers

SMS messages are sent via standard protocols supported by all major US carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

9. Privacy

Your phone number and messaging data are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are used solely for delivering property management notifications through the PaxRent platform.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these SMS terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of SMS messaging after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
