Why We Built PaxRent
PaxRent began with a property owner's frustration and one goal: software that does the routine work of running rentals, while you approve what matters.
The problem we kept running into
If you manage rental properties, you know how the week goes. A resident texts about a leak at 11pm. An owner calls to ask whether rent came in. A housing assistance contract arrives as a dense PDF that someone has to read field by field. A vacancy needs a listing today, not next week.
Most of that work is routine. It still takes hours, because the software in the middle of it mostly stores information and waits for someone to type it in.
PaxRent was started by a property owner who was tired of doing that typing. The question behind it was simple: what if property management software did the routine work itself, and asked you to approve the parts that matter?
Built around how the work actually happens
The daily workflow drove the early decisions:
- Maintenance arrives at all hours. Residents submit requests from the portal with photos, and each request reaches your queue with a category, a priority and a recommended vendor already attached.
- Paperwork arrives as PDFs. Housing assistance (HAP) contracts and insurance documents are read for you, and you review the extracted details before they are saved.
- Owners want answers without calling. Statements, maintenance status and documents live in the owner portal.
- Vacancies need to move. Listing descriptions are drafted from the unit's details, and you edit before you publish.
PaxRent runs the day-to-day operations of a working property management company, and much of what is in the product today came from that use: real residents, real owners and real month-end closes.
The AI property manager that does the work
The idea at the center of PaxRent is an agent that does the work, instead of waiting on the side to answer questions.
When a resident writes "water is coming from the ceiling in the bathroom," your agent categorizes the request, sets its priority and recommends a vendor. By default it then waits for you to confirm the dispatch. When you upload a HAP contract, your agent extracts the tenant, payment and date fields, and you review them before they are applied to the lease.
That pattern repeats across the product. The agent drafts, extracts, routes and summarizes. You approve the steps where money moves, where a resident hears from you, or where a decision carries legal weight. Our AI page explains where that line sits.
Every shipped agent capability is included on the one plan. There is no separate AI add-on, and new capabilities keep shipping. PaxRent is built on Claude and improves every month.
In the office and in the field
Property management happens in the field: walkthroughs, showings, a call squeezed between two other calls. PaxRent works in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and the PaxRent mobile app brings maintenance, payments and notifications to your phone. Residents use the same resident portal to pay rent and report problems from theirs.
Pricing you can read without a sales call
Our pricing page shows the price, and you can sign up from it. PaxRent is from $2 per unit a month, billed annually ($3 monthly), with no setup fee. Usage-based items such as text messages and e-signatures are listed on the same page, so you can see the whole picture before you start.
What "Pax" means
Pax is Latin for peace. The name is the promise: software that takes the routine work off your plate, so your time goes to residents, owners and growing your portfolio instead of data entry.
If that sounds like the way you want to work, start on the pricing page.
